| Title | The Development of Remote Video Surveillance System Based on Internet and the Research of Coding Technology of H.264 and AVS |
| Abstract | After surveying and forecasting the development of home and abroad security surveillance market, several remote video surveillance systems have been researched, which can adapt to different occasions using the most prevalent video coding technologies such as H.264 and AVS.This article includes two parts: development of remote video surveillance systems and research of video coding technologies. The development of Video surveillance system is followed by four parts including the design of video surveillance system based on Java and JMF, the design of mobile video surveillance system, the design of embeded video surveillance system and the research of H.264 video surveillance system. The video surveillance system based on Java and JMF adopts H.263 video code to fully realize the functions of networking communication, controlling of pan/tilt and alarming as well as recording for remote video surveillance. Users can monitor the surveillance points in any time and place so long as they download and install the client software. The design of this system has been accomplished by the author alone. The mobile video surveillance system uses the first kind of surveillance system as the server and a mobile as the client. Users can see pictures collected by the server at regular intervals, check alarm records and control pan/tilt through website by GPRS.The embeded video surveillance system whose server is separated from computer, is suitable for grand-scale surveillance occasions and the cost is relatively lower than the other two ones. There are two embeded video surveillance servers have been researched and designed, which using H.264 and AVS video coding technology respectively. The H.264 video surveillance system with a video capture card uses the most prevalent H.264 video coding technology which can provide clear video pictures in bad network circumstances. These four different video surveillance systems apply different technologies of networking, video coding, software design and hardware design to create applications for different user groups. Apart from the embeded video surveillance system, the other three systems have already been put into applications. This article also puts emphasis on the research of video coding technologies of H.264 and AVS, especially on comparing their coding capabilities. Several typical testing sequences have been used to be coded and decoded, and the results have been analysized in subjective and objective way. The subject valuation is judged by people’s eyes, while the object valuation analysizes the results from three aspects of compression ratio, compression time and PSNR to evaluate the performance of these two video coding technologies. The last part of the paper summarizes the main work of the project and proposes the problems for a further research. |
