Abstract

Charging system is the front-line between general supermarkets and customers. It’s the platform to finish the deals. For customers, the service quality of charging system, especially the waiting time in the queue, will directly influence the image of the supermarket, further the customer satisfaction levels. So the performance of the general supermarket is restricted. For the managers, how to optimize the numbers of cashers is very important in order to reduce the waiting time and improve customer satisfaction. Therefore, how to optimize the charging system according to customer satisfaction for operators to provide decision-making is an inevitable choice.The existing resolutions to this problem put the waiting cost and the service cost as the total cost of the objective function for the best control strategy. But in practical application the customers waiting cost is difficult to set. On the other hand, because the software adopted by the simulation is more process-oriented simulation tools, we can not effectively optimize the decision-making to general supermarkets, the stochastic service system. So how to effectively measure the charging system performance, use process-oriented simulation software to optimize the charging system and make decision, they are particularly important.In order to solve these two problems, firstly this article researched a TESCO in Shenyang to analyze the distribution between the customer satisfaction and the waiting time as the system performance measure. Then through analyzing the customer arrival and the service time, the article use of queuing theory and the knowledge of WITNESS simulation system.to obtain mathematical model and computer simulation model. Finally, calculated the optimum opening numbers of cashier based on customer satisfaction. Applying this method to charging system optimizing problem, not only the low efficiency in the simulation but also the poor system description capacity in the traditional analysis method can be avoided.
