DDoS attacks are closely related to network protocol, and have the overall, comprehensive and collaborative features.It is extremely difficult to defense attacks. There is no perfect solution. However, researchers are constantly looking for new solutions. This paper has researched DDoS attack and defense with simulation methods. We have the design and realization of NS2-based simulation system of a DDoS attack and defense.Firstly,This paper introduced the DDoS attack and defense. We have analyzed the principle of DDoS attacks, a variety of attack methods, as well as the characteristics of the attack. Countermeasures to DDoS have three parts, including detection, tracking and defense. As the relationship of the botnet and DDoS attack is close, the botnet was introduced too.Then we discuss the development of network simulation. We focus on the present situation study of DDoS attack and defense simulation. The various problems encountered and challenges are pointed out on study of simulation of DDoS attack and defense. The existing simulation tools can not do a very good to the research of DDoS attack and defense. Many researchers study on the simulation of a particular type of attack, defense and the detection. Other types of attack and defense were no included in those simulations, and they did not consider the interaction between DDoS attack and defense.In this paper, we give a DDoS attack and defense simulation model. Many research studies have been carried out on the modeling and abstraction of the background network, as well as the DDoS attack and defense. A DDoS attack and defense simulation system based on NS2 network simulator is designed. The system is able to facilitate researchers to carry out various types of DDoS attack and defense research, and show user simulation results and data with the visualization technology.So they can get easily the results of the simulation analysis.Finally, we use the simulation system to do a few experiments, and achieve good results. So we verified the validity of the simulation system. |
