| Abstract | Digital family in the future will be founded on the network. Its goal is that all the information device scan implement intellectual interconnecting.With the universalization of the digital devices and network,digital family technique is becoming the main-stream of modem digital technique. The appearance of home middleware which has shielded the difference of hardware, OS and basic communications makes the intelligence devices easier to operate and easier to enter home network. In the technologies of middleware, the UPnP is one of the most up-and-coming the modern digital family technique. UPnP which is the abbreviation of Universal Plug and Play becomes the hot spot of research and gets sweeping supporting. It is mostly used for implementing intellectual interconnecting devices. Using UPnP protocols does not need device driving programs,so the network building based on UPnP is independent of hard medium. It can run on almost all operating systems. Also,it can be realized with kinds of programming languages such as C,C++ and JAVA.UPnP will make it easy to build the network environment for devices interconnecting in office or home.The primary contributions of this thesis include the following four parts:(1) Analyze UPnP technology from basic principle to mechanism.(2) Because of many devices existing in home network, it is difficult and boring to administrate all of these devices, so one of an important role of home gateway is to handle out this problem. The home gateway first will gather the devices information, create a description array for each device and build the controlling web interface based on its template device and description arrays.(3) To solve the cooperation of the devices which using different protocols, this paper has designed an UPnP-Jini software bridge to solve this problem, which can implement the UPnP device and Jini device communication.(4) According to the development of the lessons learned, sum up the implementation frame of UPnP device.
