| Title | Modeling and Rendering of Bronze Articles |
| Abstract | We present a system for modeling and rendering of the bronze articles.In the stage of field segmentation, first, we import the three-dimensional mesh model to the system, then segment the mesh model into some regions by use of geometric features. We can adjust the field by the mutual facility of the bronze moldering system.In the stage of parameterization, we parameterize those regions by adjusting resultant parameterization of existing method to ensure the patterns mapped without distortion. We put forward parameterization adjusting methods such as rectangle field adjusting method, circle field adjusting method and so on.In the stage of rendering, we simulate the relief surface and the corrosion effects on the bronze articles through normal mapping, multiple texture blending and dilation techniques. We accelerate rendering by taking advantage of the parallelism and programmability of GPU (graphic processing unit), using the OpenGL Shading Language. Through UI users are able to alter the arrangements of the patterns and corrosion effects with ease by changing the texture map, normal map, height map, rust texture map, and rust controlling map, to render the bronze article with different style.Potential applications of our system are digital museum, digital library, design of decorative products with bronze features, and art education. |
