| Abstract | URL:http://www.it-paper.com/model-based-high-performance-computing-clusters-modeling-and-synthesis.html In order to solve large-scale and grand-challenge problems in science and engineering areas, the use of general-purpose parallel computers built with Commodity off-the-shelf (COTS) components known as High-performance Computing (HPC) clusters to prototype, debug, and run parallel applications with massively processing is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to using specialized, typically expensive, supercomputing platforms. However, various applications require different computational environments employing combinations of hardware and software components. Therefore, it becomes important to deploy and reconfigure a particular HPC platform for a given application quickly and efficiently.This paper develops a novel model-based framework for modeling and synthesis HPC clusters, which can achieve deployment HPC clusters automatically and rapidly. In the Generic Modeling Environment (GME), hardware and software components used by HPC clusters are modeled as separate models to enable the reuse of models across various operation platforms; the Object Constraint Language (OCL) is employed to constrain dependant relations between clusters software packages; these models are interpreted by the model translator into a particular implementation, such as Python script files, to implement installation and configuration of HPC clusters. A case study is provided to illustrate the design and implementation process. |
